On October 27th and 28th the Luster Learning Institute presented and exhibited at the Illinois Association of School Social Workers (IASSW) conference at the Wyndam Hotel in Lisle. Jori Griffith and Joy Luster met lots of amazing social workers from all over the state of Illinois who were genuinely interested in the Social and Emotional Learning work we are doing in the schools through the Calm Classroom program. We met the Director of Conference Planning for the National Association of School Social Workers, Dot Kontak, and we are thinking about beginning to attend other state conferences as well as the national conference. This conference was a great place for us to meet social workers as well as other people that work in schools who are interested in programs and techniques to help students. We look forward to following up with many of the people who approached us asking for more information about Calm Classroom and the possibly of bringing the program to their schools & districts. We would like to thank Benita Whitfield Shanklin, Joan Almond and Risė Davis for allowing us the opportunity to present and exhibit. Also, a BIG thank you to Kathryn Butzlaff for delivering such an excellent presentation and Tomi Nauman for helping us at the booth! Thank you everyone!
