Our 2-year partnership with Licking Heights School District in Ohio is featured in an article on social-emotional learning at John Clem Elementary.
"Even though much is beyond our control, we can control our breathing. We can offer our bodies, our nervous systems, a path out of chaos, a path to calm, a mindful connection with humanity, even gratitude for being alive, right now, in the present moment."
There are several mindfulness meditation exercises that can be implemented within a classroom, providing children with tools and techniques that they can utilize to enhance their mental wellbeing. Whether children could use assistance in harnessing their awareness, increasing mental focus, developing social-emotional skills, or reducing stress and anxiety, mindfulness meditation is a multifunctional practice that all youth can benefit from.
When introducing children to mindfulness meditation, quality becomes a very important factor. Tools and resources are extremely important in determining a child’s level of engagement in mindfulness meditation - but having both tools, resources and a trained instructor guiding them through practices will substantially increase the quality of their learning and provide greater benefits.
