3-Minute Mindfulness Practice: "I Am Calm"
"I Am Calm" is a mindful breathing practice that helps students manage stress by pairing deep breathing with a calming affirmation. As students inhale thinking “I” and exhale thinking “am calm,” they are able ground their attention and improve emotional regulation.
Research shows that mindful breathing reduces stress, while self-affirmations improve self-perception and inhibitory control when facing negative stimuli. This simple practice supports focus, calm, and a positive mindset in the classroom.
